Happy Thanksgiving! We are looking forward to beginning and talking
about our new theme on Halloween.
Thank-you to those students who did a wonderful job on their homework last week. We have received some beautiful pictures for
our Social Studies Project. We will be
starting work on our project in the next upcoming week.
We have started our first spelling quiz last Friday. Every second Friday after the homework is
due, we will have a quick quiz. Please
check and sign the “Dictée” books. Bonne semaine!
Homework #1
Word Wall Words: (Mur a mots) colours with la, or une noun: blanche, verte, bleue, noire, brune

1. Writing: Please use a pencil. Write the
date: ex. le 21 octobre, 2013
Write the work wall words 2x. Skip a line between each.
b) Choose three colour word wall words.
Write a sentence for each putting “la” or “une” infront. For example, La
gomme est noire. You may choose form these
nouns: la feuille (the leaf) , la citrouille (the pumpkin), la robe (the dress),
la table (the table), la porte (the door), la grenouille (the frog), la tortue
(the turtle), la chauve-souris (the bat). Draw a picture for each.
2. Vocabulary: Please review the
Halloween vocabulary this week.
3. Reading: We have been reading “C’est
l’automne. Please read this with your child.
Your child has begun individual
reading assessments with me on the pink sheet “ En automne j’aime…” Please review
and sign.

Welcome back to another exciting week of learning. This week, we are
continuing our inquiry about the various cultures in our school. We are learning about multiculturalism and
locating counties of origin and the continents of our students on a world map using
the school’s IPADs. Stay tuned to “The Learning
Journey” on our blog for some information on our inquiries. Our blog is stritafrench.blogspot.ca.
We will also be starting our oral presentations on “Les Merveilles de la
Terre”, the wondeous places on Earth.

Dear Parents,
This is the last homework sheet of the year. Please continue to practice and review vocabulary
and read new sheets in their duotangs over the holidays. Over the next few
weeks, we will be reviewing Advents and Christmas vocabulary.
In Social studies, we have begun our oral presentations on “Les
Merveilles de la Terre”. We will be learning
about some maps and globe skills. I will be sending home their writing notebooks. Pleas review and return to school along with
their dictée and devoir books. Have a blessed Advent and Christmas season.

date: ex. le 2 décembre, 2013

a line between each.Write a sentences with three word wall words starting with
“En… je vois…” and a noun from our Christmas vocabulary sheet entitled “Les Mots de Noël”. Illustrate your
sentence at the top of the page. For example, En décembre je vois l’arbre de Noel. (In December I see the Christmas tree)
2. Social studies:
Review the names of the seven continents found in the Social Studies
duotangs. See if you can identify the
continents of five countries studied in
class or your own.
3. Reading: Please review the vocabulary or the
month of December.
4. Singing: We are preparing for our annual
Christmas concert. We will be singing
Deck the Halls in French. The words are found in the French duotang. Please practice
with your child.

2. Reading: Please read with your child the poem
in their duotang entitled: “Mon Bonhomme
de Neige”. Can your child find the
rhymes? Make sure your child understands the vocabulary.
Practice the word sheet with “oi”.
Next week: we will be thinking of other words with the “oi” sound and writing
them down. Can you think of any?

24th -March 5th,
Dear Parents,
This will be the last worksheet before the break. Please return the
homework on Wednesday as opposed to the Thursday this time only. A reminder
that the Friday before the break is a PD Day. The writing notebooks will be
sent home this week. We have been focusing on descriptive texts and different
verbs with our winter vocabulary. Please review and sign the notebook and
return to school this week. Please check
our blog for some new updates. Wrapping
up on our theme on winter, we will have a brief unit celebrating the many
successes of our Winter Olympics. In
Social studies we will be finishing our unit on celebrations around the
world. Bonne semaine.

3. Find a picture of one of our
Olympic athletes and glue it in your homework book. Write the name of the sport
in French and the name of the athlete.
If he/she has won a medal, write the kind using the following model…
Il/Elle a gagné une médaille ( d’or, argrent, bronze).
He/She has won a (gold, silver, bronze) medal.
4. Social Studies: In preparation for our next unit, have a
discussion with your child about the country/countries of heritage that exist
within your family. Have your child
write down the countries in their homework book using the following model.
Les pays de mon partrimoine sont… The countries of my heritage are…
